A National Movement for Emotional Intelligence on
the Road
Driving Redefined was born from a simple but profound realization: the emotional and cognitive dimensions of driving have received far less attention than the mechanical skills and rules traditionally associated with the road.
A Cultural Shift We've Needed for Generations
Every day, millions of people enter a shared space carrying stress, distraction, impatience, and emotional overload. Yet much of what we traditionally learn about driving centers on rules, mechanics, and practical skills, while far less attention is given to what we bring to the road as human beings.
Driving Redefined exists to change that.

Driving Redefined is a national movement dedicated to advancing a more aware and human-centered road culture by bringing greater attention to emotional intelligence, cognitive awareness, preparedness, and shared responsibility within the driving experience.
This is about more than simply driving. It is about cultivating a cultural shift in how we understand ourselves, one another, and the responsibility we share on the road.

A safer road begins with what we bring behind the wheel.
Why This Movement Exists
For decades, road safety efforts have advanced through improvements in technology, enforcement, infrastructure, and driver education. Yet the emotional and cognitive state of the person behind the wheel deserves far greater attention within the broader conversation about road safety.
We Believe:

-
Emotional intelligence is an essential dimension of responsible driving
-
Awareness strengthens our capacity to make safer decisions
-
Preparedness begins before the vehicle begins to move
-
Shared humanity can help temper aggression, impatience, and conflict on the road
Driving Redefined brings greater attention to the human factors behind the wheel—the emotional states, patterns of attention, judgments, reactions, and behaviors that can influence what happens on the road.
We are here to help elevate driving into a space of greater responsibility, presence, and human connection.
Our Mission

To cultivate an emotionally intelligent driving culture that reduces preventable human harm, elevates awareness, and inspires safer roads across America and around the world.
We pursue this mission through:
-
Public education and awareness
-
Community engagement
-
Educational programs and initiatives
-
Emotional intelligence frameworks
-
Programs for schools, cities, and organizations
-
Cultural awareness through storytelling
Our mission goes beyond how people drive—it reaches into how they think, feel, perceive, and relate to one another behind the wheel.

Our Vision
We envision a nation where:
-
Drivers recognize one another first as human beings
-
Emotional intelligence becomes an integral part of road culture
-
Communities embrace greater awareness and shared responsibility
-
Aggression and conflict on the road are diminished
-
Preparedness becomes a shared mindset
-
Our roads reflect greater connection, consideration, and humanity
Our vision is a future in which the human and emotional dimensions of driving are recognized as essential components of road safety—alongside education, technology, laws, and infrastructure.
The Four Pillars
Awareness
Seeing beyond the windshield — understanding yourself, your environment, and the emotional state you bring to the road.
Preparedness
Preparing yourself mentally, emotionally, and practically for the unexpected.
Emotional Intelligence
Responding rather than reacting. Choosing patience over impulse. Bringing humanity into every interaction.

Shared Humanity
Recognizing that every driver is a human being with a story, a life, and a destination that matters.
These pillars guide every program, message, and initiative we create.

About the Founder
Created by Russell Zaimi, an American entrepreneur, author, world traveler, and lifelong observer of human behavior, Driving Redefined grew from a perspective shaped by more than one million miles of real-world driving experience across the United States, Canada, Western Europe, Mexico, and Central America.
Russell’s perspective has also been shaped by an interdisciplinary academic and intellectual background. A psychology graduate with additional graduate study in clinical mental health, he also pursued university studies in Germany in German literature, translation & interpretation techniques. His longstanding interest in linguistics, together with experience in five languages at varying degrees of fluency, further deepened his sensitivity to the interplay of language, culture, perception, emotion, cognition, and human behavior.
Beyond his formal education at universities in the United States and Germany, Russell has pursued years of independent interdisciplinary study spanning philosophy, history, mythology, comparative religion, anthropology, music, astronomy, human behavior, biology, neuroscience, and the relationship between mind, perception, and experience. Combined with decades of entrepreneurship, human-centered leadership, international travel, and firsthand observation, these influences have cultivated a way of looking at driving through a distinctly human lens.
Across more than one million miles on the road, that lens revealed a recurring reality: driving is not merely a mechanical act. The emotional and cognitive state we bring behind the wheel can influence attention, perception, judgment, reaction, and ultimately behavior.
That recognition brought into focus an often-overlooked dimension of road safety: the emotional environment of our roads—and the opportunity to bring greater awareness to the human factors that shape our experience within them.
Driving Redefined grew from that recognition, bringing together psychology, Emotional Intelligence, interdisciplinary study, cultural observation, and lived experience into a broader framework for rethinking our relationship with the road. At its center is a simple proposition: when we become more aware of what we bring behind the wheel, we become better equipped to recognize the responsibility we carry toward ourselves and everyone with whom we share the road.
The objective is both practical and cultural: to help make the shared experience of driving safer, more thoughtful, more responsible, and more human for generations to come.

Our Commitment to the Road We Share
